The librarian stereotype

My boss, the head librarian, is always put together. She wears the latest in styles, her hair is always right, she’s just with it. The other day we were at a meeting and she had her latest black-framed glasses on. Her reasoning – to make herself look like a librarian. She was sitting by the local elementary principal and asked if her glasses made her look like a stereotypical librarian. The principal told us that her idea of a librarian was the county librarian when she was a kid. “I would go in the library and the librarian would have her hair pulled back in a bun with a hairnet covering her hair. She was short and rounded and had wire-frame glasses. She wore sensible shoes and a shirtwaister dress. She smelled like a basement library.”

I guess my boss needs to work harder on the look. She isn’t there yet!
